Phono Preamp
The SV-EQ1616D is a full-function phono pre-amp and equalizer. It features all-tube construction for the moving magnet input, point-to-point wiring. Inputs for two tonearms, which are indepently selectable from the built-in moving coil amplifier circuit, provide ultimate flexibility. EQ settings for RIAA, London, Columbia, old AES, as well as settings for US and EU 78s will cover just about any recording in your collection. Herb Reichert describes the sound as, “analog on acid” and gave the SV-EQ a Stereophile class ‘A’ rating.
Line Stage
The SV-PRE1616D is essentially the line stage of the venerable Marantz Model 7, in its own chassis. With a few differences - the original #7 had a solid state power supply where the SV uses tube rectification, and applies some additional filtration in the circuit. Paired with the EQ, this is a slightly modernized two-chassis Model 7 with independent power supplies for phono and line stage. The sound is well rounded and detailed while avoiding old-school tube schmaltz. Two pairs of outputs make it a great choice for bi-amping the Macarias.
